Nicaragua advances in renewable energy sector

Nicaragua now generates 52 percent of its energy through renewable sources, according to a report by the country's Ministry for Energy.

The Nicaraguan government aims to generate 90 percent of its energy with renewable sources by 2020.

But achieving that goal will largely depend on the success of the Tumarín hydroelectric project, said economist Mario Arana.
