Nicaragua crisis puts a brake on regional growth

Friday, October 19, 2018

Central America will register 2.8 percent this year, down from 3.7 percent in 2017, in part as a result of the six months off the crisis in Nicaragua, where negative growth is expected to be 3.8 percent for this year.

A World Bank report on Central America continues by saying that the region is growing at "a good pace" though "it is sure to be affected by the political and economic crisis that is hitting Nicaragua."

This year's negative growth in Nicaragua is expected to continue in 2019, though at lesser rate.
