Nicaragua has record year in foreign investment

Nicaragua received 33 percent more foreign direct investment during 2012, compared to 2011, said the country's investment promotion agency, ProNicaragua.

According to ProNicaragua, the figure represents $1.28 billion. It added that last year there were 349 investment projects from 37 countries, the highest number in the country's history.

Venezuela was Nicaragua's top investor, with $210 million of the total, followed by Panama and the United States.
