Nicaragua is key ally for Costa Rica

Despite political differences, Costa Rica and Nicaragua are key trade partners, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

The two nations' bilateral agenda has been suspended since a Nicaraguan invasion to Calero island, however, Costa Rica is still Nicaragua's third trade partner after the United States and China.

Over the last decade, Costa Rican imports from Nicaragua have grown some 13 percent year-on-year, according to data from Costa Rica's international trade promotion agency.
