Nicaragua nets $1 billion in first-half exports

Monday, July 5, 2010

Nicaragua’s exports hit $1 billion in the first half of the year, an increase of 34.9 percent compared with the same period of 2009.

The increase in land sown to crops, and the increases of some traditional products such as sugar, gold, coffee, beef and sugar were the main reasons for the surge.

The United States continues to be the leading market for Nicaraguan products, followed by Venezuela, which has now leap-frogged El Salvador in the list.
