Nicaragua risks losing preferential access to U.S.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

Nicaragua will hold talks with the U.S. in order to maintain its Tariff Preferential Level, said Álvaro Baltodano, of the National Committee of Free Trade Zones.

The benefit is at risk if Nicaragua decides to give asylum to Edward Snowden, the country's main private company associations warned.

The preferential level allows Nicaragua to export garments to the U.S. tariff-free.
