Nicaragua's coffee exports plummet

Nicaragua's coffee exports dropped 15 percent in volume and generated 22.2 percent less earnings in the harvest from October 2013 to June 2014, the country's exports authority, Cetrex, said.

Exports of the grain generated $267 million, 22 percent less than the $343 million from the same period a year before.

In terms of volume, Nicaragua exported 1.68 million quintals, bags of 45.4 kilos each, 15 percent less than the 1.98 million bags from a year earlier.
