Nicaragua's construction industry falls short of target

Tuesday, December 4, 2012

Nicaragua's building industry will achieve growth of 12 percent this year, below the 15 percent target it initially set.

The shortfall was largely due to delays in major projects such as the $1 billion Tumarín hydro plant, said Benjamín Lazas, president of the construction chamber.

The construction industry has 17,000 workers that are affiliates of the nation's social security institute.
