Nicaragua's economy grew by 4.7 percent last year, highest in Central America

Nicaragua's gross domestic product grew by 4.7 percent last year, the central bank reported.

This placed Nicaragua's as the highest growth rate in Central America and above the Latin America and Caribbean average of 4.3 percent.

BCN indicated that in 2011 Nicaraguan exports reached $2.2 million.

The country's main exports are sugar, beef, coffee, peanuts, dairy products and black beans.
