Nicaragua's exports begin the year with a bang with increase of 17 percent

Nicaragua's exports reached around $220 million in January this year, a 17 percent growth compared to the same month last year, official sources reported.

In terms of volume, exports in January reached over 177,000 metric tons, 46 percent more than in January 2011.

The United States remains the main recipient of Nicaraguan exports, followed by Venezuela and Canada.
