Marxism sounds like an unlikely marketing tool for a prestige product. But it was a decade of revolutionary socialism that enabled Nicaragua's Flor de Caña to leap into the international ultra-premium rum spotlight.
The family business had been producing rum for nearly a century when Nicaragua’s Sandinista government nationalized foreign trade, including rum exports, after coming to power in 1979.
