Nicaragua seeks foreign investment boost

Nicaragua is aiming to receive $1.5 billion in foreign direct investment this year, the country's investment promotion agency, ProNicaragua, said.
The figure is 8 percent more than last year's $1.3 billion.
The figure is feasible, according to ProNicaragua presidential delegate, Álvaro Baltodano, as the country is expecting investments from Mexico in the dairy, agriculture and wood sectors, as well as telecoms firms Xinwei, from China; Movistar, subsidiary of Spain's Telefónica, and Mexican magnate's América Móvil, through its regional subsidiarry Claro.
