Nicaragua seeks preferential tariffs
Tuesday, October 7, 2014
Nicaragua is set to intensify its efforts to maintain its preferential tariffs on exports, which help maintain 20,000 jobs in the country.
In October, a delegation of Nicaragua's American trade chamber travelled to Washington aiming for a new concession of the preferential trade benefit, and two more delegations, from the Government and the private sector association, will do the same in November and December this year.
For 10 years, the U.S. allowed Nicaragua to export garments made with raw materials from countries outside of the Dominican Republica-Central America free trade agreement, DR-Cafta.
