Nicaragua seeks to stop Costa Rican highway

Costa Rica presented a series of technical studies as defence after Nicaragua claimed damages to the San Juan river at the International Courts of Justice at The Hague, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

Nicaragua claims that the construction of a Costa Rican highway, Trocha 1856, along the river was causing environmental damages.

But the studies presented by Costa Rica show there were no damages, and Nicaragua will now have to wait for the Court to order provisional measures to stop construction of the highway.
