Nicaragua to increase use of renewable resources

Nicaragua will produce more than 50 percent of its electricity by the end of this year.

"We are headed towards less dependency of fossil fuels and increasing our use of renewable resources", said Emilio Rappaccioli, Minister of Energy.

The country already saved $51 million in its oil bill during the first quarter of this year, according to the Ministry of Energy.
