Nicaragua to slash oil bill with renewable energy

Monday, November 21, 2011

Blue Power has concluded the first phase of its wind-farm project in Nicaragua.

The nation’s renewable energy resources will be increased in six months’ time by 75.5 megawatts, including 39 from Blue Power and the 36.5 megawatts the San Jacinto-Tizate geothermal project.

Together they will represent savings of $60 million a year on the nation’s $900 million oil bill.
