Nicaragua wants to attract tourism to Managua

Nicaraguan tourism representatives are working on an aggressive campaign to attract more visitors to the nation's capital city of Managua.

Next year's August holiday season is the main target for the city which "has never been looked at as a destination," said the president of the Chamber of the Nicaraguan Tourism Enterprises, Leonardo Torres.

According to data from the Nicaraguan tourism authority, Managua has 160 hotels with some 3,550 rooms in 2012.
