Nicaraguan banks increase remittances transfers

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

An increasing number of Nicaraguan immigrants prefer to use banks to send remittances back home, the country's central bank said.

Of the $277 million Nicaragua received in remittances in the first quarter this year, $90 million were processed through the country's banks.

The central bank says that increase comes as customers prefer the lower transfer fees and related products that the banks offer.
