Nicaraguan coffee exports plummet

Nicaraguan coffee exports dropped 41.5 percent in value and 33.1 percent in volume in the first seven months of the 2013-2014 harvest, compared with the same period from the previous season.
From October last year to April this year, exports reached $144.5 million, compared with the previous figure of $247 million.
In terms of volume, Nicaragua exported 948,006 quintals (45-kilo bags), down from the previous 1.4 million quintals, a 33.1 percent drop.
