Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Coffee exports from Nicaragua climbed 89 percent last month from a year earlier, according to the country’s Centre for Exports, known as Cetrex.

Shipments totaled about 217,371 bags of 60 kilograms in June, up from 115,119 bags in the same period last year, Cetrex said.

Nicaragua will produce 1.6 million bags of coffee in the 2011-2012 season that ends on September 30, data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture show. Output will rise to 1.8 million bags in 2012-2013, according to the data.
