Nicaraguan remittances grow despite foreign problems

Despite the poor economic results of the United States and Spain, remittances to Nicaragua show no signs of slowing down.

The Nicaraguan Central Bank's most recent report shows that money sent from the United States grew 2 percent last year.

The United States accounts for 60 percent of remittances sent to Nicaragua, which last year totaled slightly more than $1 billion.
