Nicaraguan tobacco reaches record sales

Nicaragua's tobacco industry has shown strong growth, reaching record sales and infrastructure investments.

The sector generated 30,000 jobs and sales for $137 million in 2012 in Estelí, the country's main tobacco producing region.

Organic tobacco has has positive reception. Plascencia Cigars has sold 200,000 organic cigars to countries such as Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Israel, Portugal, Japan and the United States.
