Nicaraguan tourism sector gets by on crumbs

Despite losses of $440 million -about half their earnings- and 45 percent fewer arrivals -- much of Nicaragua's tourism sector have found the way to continue operating, only even if it’s just to keep hope alive.

An “exploratory study” on the situation of tourism companies, prepared by the Funides think tank, found that 42 percent of companies in the sector closed operations “at some point,” since the April 2018 Rebellion, the Havana Times reports.
