Tuesday, October 4, 2011
Governments of the Americas should make tourism a central focus of their economic recovery strategies, and a priority in their national policies said Albert Ramdin, assistant general secretary of the Organization of American States.
Ramdín praised OAS member states for approving the establishment of a hemispheric tourism fund, geared towards supporting extremely poor communities that are unable to develop tourism potential.
The proposal for the fund was made during the Inter-American Travel Congress, which closed this weekend in El Salvador.
