Ormat completes Honduras geothermal purchase

U.S.-based Ormat Technologies completed its acquisition of the Geotermica Platanares geothermal project in Honduras.

Ormat will hold the project’s assets for 15 years, including wells, land, permits and a power purchase agreement for up to 35 megawatts as part of a Build, Operate and Transfer structure.

Ormat expects to reach commercial operation in three years with a projected capacity of 18 megawatts.
