Panama advances tax battle with Colombia

Panama's government said that Colombia has failed to prove at international courts that its taxes on garment imports from Panama comply with the International Trade Organization's, ITO, agreements.

The Panamanian government added that Colombia has also failed to prove that those taxes are not discriminatory against Panamanian exporters.

The Colombian taxes protect Colombian production and harm international trade, particularly for the Colón Free Trade Zone, said Panama's Trade Minister Melitón Arrocha.
