Panama Canal Authority has now awarded $4.2 billion in contracts for expansion. A further $1 billion still to be adjudicated

The Panama Canal Authority has awarded $4.2 billion in contracts for the expansion program.

Of that amount $188 million was for work that has already been completed. The whole project is valued at $5.25 billion.

The biggest contract, for $3.2 billion, was for the design and construction of the third set of locks. The contract was won by Spain’s Sacyr with Impregilo of Italy, Belgium’s Jan de Nul and Panama’s Constructora Urbana.
