Panama Canal eyes big LNG trade after widening

The widening of locks in the Panama Canal will provide a massive boost to its liquefied natural gas traffic, with annual volumes likely to pass through projected at 25 million metric tons, a key official said.

The canal widening is approaching completion at a time when LNG exports from the US are on an upward spiral.
