Panama Canal generates $4 billion in business

The Panama Canal expansion project has generated business and contracts for up to $4.3 billion.

Since the beginning of the project, there have been 646 bids for different types of work in the expansion. Of the total, 75 percent were won by Panamanian companies.

Among the companies working at the Canal are Deloitte, Cemento Bayano and Cardoze & Lindo. However, the largest project was for GUPC, a European-Panamanian group in charge of designing the third set of locks for $3.2 billion.
