Panama dominates Central American insurance market with $1 billion in premiums
Thursday, January 12, 2012

Panama has Central America's largest insurance market by a long stretch.
Last year premium income in Panama came to $1 bilion, a 26 percent increase on Costa Rica in second place.
But insurance as a whole of the economy is relatively insignificant in Central America. Premium income accounts for 5 percent of the product of the countries of Latin America as a whole, but only 3.5 percent in Central America.
