Panama grows as a destination for cruise ships

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

The number of cruise passengers to Panama has grown 23 percent in the last decade, the Panamanian port authority, AMP, said.

In the first five months of this year, the country received 323,910 cruise passengers.

"It's an interesting market for the country and it should be expanded, as it benefits regions such as Colón, where many tourists spend a few days and go shopping," said Annette Cárdenas, director of the Tourism Commission of the Panama Agriculture and Trade Chamber.
