Panama hotels and restaurants earn $1 billion

Hotels and restaurants in Panama reached a new record, reporting $1 billion in earnings, according to the country's tourism authority known as ATP.

This year, the ATP expects the country's tourism sector to grow 7 percent. In January this year, tourists spent $234 million, a 13 percent increase compared to the same month last year.

Hotels along the coast have already reported 100 percent occupation of rooms for this year's Easter holidays.
