Panama is best for retirement

Panama is the second best country in the world for expats to retire, according to this year’s International Living retirement index.

Costa Rica is second in Central America and fourth in the world, while Nicaragua is eigth worldwide.

Panama is not only modern, comfortable, and tolerant, but also cheap for resident pensioners, who can get discounts of up to 50% on travel, healthcare, hotels and restaurants.

Mexico leads the index, while Vietnam is last.

The ranking of 24 countries evaluates cost of buying and renting a house, benefits and discounts for retirees, visas and residence, entertaiment and amenities, cost of living and healthcare, among other factors.

El Salvador was not included (numbers in brackets indicate the global position of each country).
