Panama is top buyer of European goods

Panama is the top Central American buyer of European products, accounting for 28.4 percent of the region's total, according a program by the Central American Integration System known as PRAAIA, which aims to support regional integration and the implementation of the association agreement with Europe.

Costa Rica is in second place, importing 24 percent of the total European products into the region, followed by Guatemala with 19 percent; El Salvador with 12 percent; Honduras with 9 percent and Nicaragua with 6 percent.

Panama's main imports from the European Union are cars, ships, medicine and electric wires.
