Panama is tops for doing business in region

Panama, Guatemala and El Salvador are the best countries in Central America to launch a business, according to the World Bank's "Doing Business" report.

The report studies 183 countries. Panama is at number 61, followed by Guatemala, 97 and El Salvador at 112.

Surprisingly Costa Rica, considered to be Panama's competition in terms of economic development, came in second to last in the region. Costa Rica's main issues are the time it takes to open a business, and limited protection to investors.
