Panama joins flood of trade complaints on Argentina

Panama became the eighth country this year to file a complaint at the World Trade Organization, WTO, against Argentina, for unfair restrictions on imports.

The United States, the European Union, Mexico and Japan have also filed complaints this year, accusing the Argentinian government of blocking imports in order to protect its economy.

Argentina has 60 days to attempt to settle this new dispute, according to OMC rules. After that period, if the problem has not been settled, Argentina could be forced to change its laws by the OMC.
