Panama leads in Spanish business relations

Panama is the Central American Country with the greatest number of investments from Spain, according to IE BusinessSchool’s 2017 Spanish Investment Overview for Latin America.

Approximately 40% of the 76 Spanish companies included in the report have a commercial relation with Panama, including investments, exports and imports.

Costa Rica is second in the Isthmus with 27% of the Spanish companies, followed by El Salvador and Guatemala, both at 13%.

Only Panama and Costa Rica registered a sustained growth of Spanish investments through the 2015-2017 period, according to the review.

Mexico is the Latin American country with the greatest volume of Spanish business relations (83%), while Honduras is last (3%).

The number of companies with commercial activity, expectations of growth and risk for investment, were analized by the study (numbers in brackets indicate the percentage of the sample of Spanish companies in each country).
