Panama makes ready to mount a challenge with Costa Rica on medical tourism

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Costa Rica is capturing the lion’s share of Latin America’s medical tourism market, with a 16 percent share.

For the time being, Panama has only 1 percent, but many forecasts indicate that it could achieve a 12 percent share within five years.

The main driving force is the alliance of medical services formed by Hospital Punta Pacífica, Clínica Hospital San Fernando, Centro Médico Paitilla and Hospital Nacional.
