Panama port cargo movement drops 4.3 percent

Thursday, February 13, 2014

Cargo movement in Panama's ports dropped 4.3 percent last year.

The figure shows cargo traffic which reached 6.6 million TEUs, 20-foot containers, compared to 6.9 million in 2012.

Among the main reasons for the drop are Venezuela's debt and a Colombian re-export tariff, both affecting the Colón Free Trade Zone.
