Panama record growth of 5.9% in first quarter

While public attention is largely focused on the daily unraveling of the corruption structure that plagued the country during the previous administration, almost unrecognized Panama’s economy continues to grow at a rate that is the envy of many countries in the Western world.

On Monday, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that the Panamanian economy grew 5.9% in the first quarter of 2015.
