Panama regulator cancels concession to hydroelectric plant of AES affiliate

Panama’s National Authority for Public Services confirmed that it has cancelled the concession of a local affiliate of AES for the construction of the Changuinola hydroelectric project.

The authority said that modifications to the project “could not adequately optimize  the available hydroelectric resource.

AES Changuinola is currently developing phase one of the project with a $536 million investment.
