Panama's construction industry created $1.4 billion, nearly a fifth of country's GDP
Panama's construction sector accounted for 18.5 percent of the country's gross domestic product last year.
The figure, which in financial terms represents $1.4 billion, is the most growth the country has seen isince 2009.
Among the projects that contributed to the growth are the construction of bridges, markets, the capital city's Metro system and housing.
