Panama's hotel occupancy in steady decline

Monday, August 25, 2014

Panama's hotel occupancy rate has dropped 10 percent over the past four years, according to government figures.

In the first half of 2011, hotel occupancy was 67 percent, while for the first half of 2014, the figure dropped to 57 percent.

Part of the issue is that there is more offer of hotel rooms than demand, said Jesus Sierra, administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority.
