Panama’s new mining law paves way for Inmet Mining’s $5 billion copper plan

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

The approval of Panama’s new mining law will pave the way for the Minera Panama copper project of Canada’s Inmet Mining.

The reforms will allow foreign governments to obtain concessions through mining conceccions or finance operations in Panama.

This point is the key to Inmet’s plan. Inmet wants state companies in Korea and Signapore to finance part of the $5 billion cost of the project.
