Panama's port activity picks up in first half

Monday, August 4, 2014

Panama's ports handled 1.4 percent more cargo in the first half this year, compared with the same period last year, the country's maritime authority, AMP, said.

The figure shows an improvement compared with the first months of the year, when the country's ports handled 6.4 percent less cargo than in early 2013.

Balboa is the best performing port this year, handling more than 1.51 million TEUs, 20-foot containers, up to June.
