Panama's root vegetables gain popularity abroad

Panamanian yam and manioc have reached international markets.

More than 100 farmers are exporting these root vegetables to the United States, France, Spain, Canada, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica.

This year, farmers expect to produce about 120.500 quintals of yam, and some 46,000 pounds of manioc.
