Panama scores a 10 in economic growth

The effort that the government of Panama has put in developing the country's infrastructure has resulted in a 10 percent growth of the economy during the second quarter of the year, compared to the same period last year.

During the same period, mining grew 29 percent, boosted by a higher demand from the construction sector, which also grew 29 percent.

Tourism grew 5.4 percent during the first seven months of the year, compared to the same period last year. Visitors to the country spent about $1.3 billion.
