Panama sees 7.7 percent less seaport traffic

Friday, July 26, 2013

Panama's maritime authority reported a 7.7 percent drop in the country's seaport container handling during the first five months of the year.

The figure shows a total of 2.6 million TEUs, compared with 2.8 million during the same period last year.

The drop comes after Venezuela and Colombia, major users of the Colón Free Trade zone, saw a drop in their own exports, as well as a decline in traffic in the Panama Canal.
