Panama takes first steps on shuttered Banco Universal

Panama’s bank superintendent made his first operational moves in the complex process of administering Banco Universal. He has opened an escrow account at the National Bank of Panama to deposit all cash from the bank.

The account will be used to pay wages for the bank workers and to pay creditors.
