Panama to invest $150 million for revamp of farming

Monday, January 10, 2011

Panama’s government is to invest $150 million in farming infrastructure following a five-year reduction of 35,000 hectares in the area under cultivation.

Irrigation systems, dams and glasshouses are among the leading projects for agricultural authorities this year.

The aim is to ensure supplies throughout the year of such basic staples as rice, vegetables, grains, meat and milk.
